5 Best Ergonomic Office Chairs in 2020

Choosing the right office chair is imperative to how you will function at work. If we think about it, on average, people can spend up to 40 hours+ per week sitting in one. That is a LOT of time!

As our lives become more sedentary, it’s important to make sure we are taking care of ourselves the best we can.

But what is an ergonomic chair?

An ergonomic chair is a chair designed to suit a range of people. It has adjustable parts that enhance maximum comfort during sitting. It aims in giving the correct support of your posture, weight and lumbar while sitting.

Finding the right ergonomic chair is important because chairs are not a “one size fits all”

Here are our best and most interesting finds from Amazon!

1 .  Balance Ball Chair

Not your typical office chair but this is an all in one package. I switched to a swiss ball when I started working from home (until the heater melted a hole in it) but I found I could only use if for shorter periods of time as my back muscles were not used to propping myself up for too long. However this is a mix between a swiss ball and a chair with back support. Win Win!

This chair which has been created by health and fitness experts to provide an active flexible seating promotes proper alignment and relives back pain and soreness associated with sitting for long periods of time.

2. Brown Suede Modern Chair

This chair is all about the look. I'm a big fan of the brown suede and paired with the right desk you could have a modern looking office in no time.

It's made out of soft brown suede and has adjustable features. However it doesn't seem to have all the mod cons of a typical ergonomic chair so have a think about whether you're going more for the look here or the functionality.

3. Black Mesh, Swivel Chair

This is your typical office chair that you often see and in fact is very similar to the one I am currently sitting on right now. It's nothing super fancy, but for me, it was all about my back posture and this chair does just that!

This chair on Amazon has thousands of great reviews, they're easy to assemble and if you're looking for something simple yet effective, this may be for you.

4. Mid Century Modern Chair

This is a beautiful looking chair and one that would seamlessly work in with your home decor (if working from home) without shouting the words "OFFICE CHAIR"
Many office chairs look exactly as they sound...boring. However this brings style and class to your office space.

With an adjustable leather back and stainless steel legs I am all over this look! It's a yes from me!

5. Gaming Chair

There's a reason why gamers have comfy chairs....they're in them for long periods of time and they need to make sure their backs are supported.

This chair has contoured segmented padding, integrated padded headrest, and padded arms. Adjustable height, center-tilt control, flippable arms and 360 degrees of swivel.

Choosing the right chair is not rocket science but do take some things into consdieration.

Think about:

  • How long you will sit on it daily
  • Is it adjustable (and what parts)
  • Does it suit the look of your office
  • What are other people saying about it (read reviews)
  • What type of material is it made of
  • Do you want one that swivels, slides or is sedentary

Once you know what features you would like then it's easier to find one :)
