Embrace the spring with flowers

To create that natural light and airy feel, your space should be able reflect the world and the mood outside and one of the best ways to do this is to bring the outdoors in. Use your immediate surroundings as inspiration, walk outside and get anything that you think will match your style. It can be as simple as textured dried or leafy branches, or flowers you have in your garden, bunnies tails, or any other natural pieces that you can incorporate to your current space.

You can also support your local florists and purchase floral arrangements of daffodils, tulips, hyacinths, or a mix of different flowers. What’s great about flowers is, it’s easy to use as decorations! Whether you put them as the centerpiece or on your nightstand, they can go easily complement well regardless of your decorations. No area or place at home can’t use a bouquet — trust us!

Get matching aesthetic vases

To fully embrace your greeneries and florals, get matching vessels for them.

Create an organic look using the dried branches you’ve picked up by putting them in big glass jars or structured ceramic vases or any vintage vases. Experiment with different heights of branches to add dimension to the space.

For colorful florals, you can pop them in white vases to bring out their colors more.

If you’re a fan of Scandinavian and Nordic decor style, lucky for you, as we’ve just launched these vases inpired by the popular donut vases we’ve been seeing all over the internet nowadaysNordic Ceramic Vases. These vases boast a minimalist design and sleek structure which can fit in any interior styles, with or without the florals.

Ditch the gingerbread candles

Bright spring candles

If you still have the gingerbread candles from last Christmas or even the pumpkin-scented candles last fall, it’s time to swap those out with spring-friendly candles! Refresh your home and conjure up a warm and sunny feel by bringing in floral and fruity scented-candles like roses and citrus.

Scented candles are always readily available, so you don’t have to worry about where you can get them. If you’re not a fan of scents or have a very sensitive sense of smell, you can always opt for unscented candles, which are also available everywhere. Unscented candles also work for creating a lighter and more positive vibe, especially if they’re decorated in colorful and bright candle holders!

Make your own candles

If you’re feeling a bit more crafty or want to start a simple DIY project (like I always do), make your own candles! You don’t have to worry about getting the ingredients because you can buy them online or in stores near you.

As a pro-tip, experiment with the scents yourself. Often, it’s not that you don’t like scented candles; it’s just that they’re not the right scent for you. Buy some essential oils and personalize your candles the way you like them.

Deep clean this spring

Clean living room with plants

For an ultimate change of atmosphere, deep clean every nook and cranny of your home this spring! Wipe every surface and brush every appliance, especially in hard-to-reach and moist areas across the home.

It’s not completely a redecorating tip but it can help you downsize your stuff. Spring cleaning is a hard task, we know! That’s why we’ve got your back! Check out our quick spring cleaning guide and checklist right here.

Add functional storage

To make spring cleaning a bit more enjoyable, try adding beautiful yet functional storage wherever you can. Make use of baskets, trays, and boxes to organize and store your stuff.

Personally, we have at least one basket in nearly every room so it’s easier to keep the space looking tidy as we can just hide in there anything that doesn’t fit inside other storage spaces. After all, there will always be those odd items that are always sticking out and have no permanent home. Here are some of the woven cotton baskets I’m using in our home. It comes in different colors, so there’s always something that can match your home decor.

If you’re not sure how to keep your storage baskets looking stylish for every space, we’ve listed a few ways to decorate with baskets here.

Switch to a lighter fabric

Pastel colored pillowcases and bed cover

Put away the dark-colored curtains and sheets! Now that the breeze is warmer and fresher, you can swap out those dark-colored textiles and thick wovens for light linens.

Look out for pillowcases, rugs, curtains, kitchen towels, and other textiles with soft color tones, lightweight feel, and vibrant patterns. Add a few of these pieces and you can instantly create a lighter and more open feel in your space.

If you’re not looking to buy anything new, you can also rotate your decor pieces and move them to other rooms until you find a combination that can make the space feel fresher and new. Take away or subtract a few items too so you can create that relaxed and airy vibe.

Play with lighting for an airier space

Aside from placing lighter-colored curtains and sheets, you can also play with lighting! You don’t have to install another fixture to brighten up the home. Simply open up your windows and let natural light do the work. It’s perfect as days are longer than before.

While you’re at it, add some greeneries next to your windowpane too! It’s time to catch up on some indoor plants that have not survived the cold of the winter. As you start with your plant resolution 2021, it’s handy to conduct your research about evergreen plants, which can last you all-year-round.

Curate your deck and lawn

Enough with embellishing the interior of your home! Time to head out and redecorate the outside of your property. Now that the soil isn’t barren anymore and the weather can sustain life, it’s the best time to curate your lawn and have your own little garden.

As you don’t have to shovel now and then, time to decorate your deck too! Swap some of your old and worn-out furniture for more modern pieces. If you’re on a tight budget, you can always choose the DIY route! Read our budget home decor quick tips right here.

Use pots for easy maintenance

When planting for spring, make use of pots and planter boxes. As the spring kicks in, animals may come running into your yard and munch your plants — no one wants that! Using pots or boxes keeps plants easier to maintain away from animals.

I’m all for curating my garden and seeing my plants grow, which makes me love spring so much. If you’re on the other side of the spectrum and still a bit hesitant to try gardening or indoor planting, you can always just choose to switch some furniture pieces on the deck or opt for faux plants.

That’s about it! Are you as excited as I am whenever spring hits? Share your feedback, suggestions, and some tips in the comments!
